Tuning

Every airframe responds differently to control inputs and has different strengths, weaknesses, and limits. Specific information particular to a given airframe type, airframe model, choice of power components, and flying preferences are encapsulated in a "settings file". That file can be downloaded from your PC into Ruby through its USB port.

Expertly created settings files will be available free of charge for a small but growing number of kit airframes and general airframe types.

It's quite possible that no matching or reasonably similar airframe can be found in the settings file library and that Ruby may not be able to operate your particular airframe properly until you have tuned its settings yourself.

The process of tuning involves making a few flights in which the plane is flown mostly under manual control, with brief engagements of aided control.

Inexperienced pilots reliant on Ruby's aided mode and unable to control an aircraft reasonably well in manual mode should only fly planes for which a factory or expert settings file specific to that model has been created.
