RubyTM Camera Tracking
(preliminary , updated 5/19/2014)

Ruby can control a pan/tilt to keep a camera stabilized or pointed at a fixed location.

Camera tracking modes:

Fixed location

Camera is kept pointed at a fixed location on the ground.

Relative to horizon

Camera is kept pointed in a fixed azimuth and elevation. The field of view will move over the ground with the plane but will not change as the plane heading and pitch change.

This mode is most useful when searching an area.

Follow flight path

Camera is kept pointed in the direction of motion of the plane.

This is most useful for landing or maneuvering close to ground obstructions in aided mode.

The camera azimuth will be in the direction of the course over the ground.
Example: If there's a crosswind from the left, the camera will be pointed to the right of the nose of the plane.

The camera elevation will be in the direction of glideslope.
Example: If the plane is descending on a 20 degree glideslope, the camera will be pointed down 20 degrees. It will be pointed where the plane would reach the ground if it continues on current glideslope.

Retracted Camera is folded inside aircraft, more aerodynamic and safe for landing.
