We recommend using a switching BEC to power Ruby rather than powering directly from a battery pack or using the the BEC built into your ESC. This provides an ideal constant 5.0 - 5.2 volts input efficiently, without the possibility of overheating.

We've had nothing but good experience with the Castle Creations CC BEC.

WARNING: It is possible to program the CC BEC to output any voltage from 4.8 to 9 volts. By default, the Castle CC BEC outputs 5.2 volts, which is optimal for Ruby. Do not use the programming feature of the CC BEC to provide voltage outside the range of 5.0 to 5.2 volts.
